Reinventing children's photography
Things have changed a lot since I was a child, but one thing that hasn't changed are school photos. When my daughter was in her last term at primary school, I took a trip down memory lane and looked through her old school photos. It struck me that they were all very similar. In her class photos, she was always on the back row because she's tall, hands in the same place, same smile, same layout; the only real change being the different teachers and her growing. Then I looked at her individual photos; same angle, same seated position, same expression and it occurred to me that these photos, whilst a lovely keepsake, show none of the changing personality of my daughter.
It was then that I remembered seeing some unusual photos of wedding guests in a box format and decided to give it a go with her Year 6 class as an alternative leavers photo. The results were incredible and I had so much amazing feedback.
As a result, 'In The Box' photography was born.
